Hello there,

How are you doing today? I hope you enjoyed my previous blog! If you haven’t checked it yet then here is a link.

Today’s blog as you already must have guessed by the tittle is all about winter hacks and DIYs. So let’s get started

  1. Winters are my favourite season but the flaky and dry skin is something I hate about this season. To overcome this dryness what I do is a simple hack or as we call it grandma’s nuskha which says to put a few drops of coconut oil or some ghee in the belly button before going to bed and you will wake up with hydrated skin in the morning. This will give you relief from cracked skin or chapped lips within one or two days.

  2. Aleo vera gel has natural moisturising properties which can be a gift for my oily skin beauties who doesn’t want a heavy duty cream on their already greasy face or body. Mix any essential oil with the gel and apply it all over the face in the night as a night creme or in the morning before using a sunscreen to keep your skin moisturised throughout the day.

  3. Make a diy scrub for lips to avoid chapped lips. Honey is a natural moisturiser so we will take one part of honey and mix it with one part of sugar to make a diy sugar scrub. You can put rose essential oil in the scrub for added benefits.

  4. Use light weight oils like colorbar’s argan oil or bio oilin the face and body as they won’t clog pores but still give a healthy glow to the face or body by moisturizing it from within.

  5. Don’t lick your lips as saliva will make your lips more chapped.

  1. Scrubbing your face and body regularly during winters is the key to the glowing skin. As the build up of dead skin will make your skin more cracked and unhealthy.

  1. Never forget to moisture your elbows and knees. They have a tough skin and often lacks moisturisation. During winters they look flaky and ugly to avoid that and get a hydrated skin use a heavy moisturiser particularly on those parts.

  1. I use this nivea combination for hands and legs; this deep moisture lotion gives me a good hydration for maximum 8 hours where as this creme which has a heavy consistency moisturises my elbows & knees for a long time.

  1. To avoid cracked heels always sleep with the socks on. Before going to bed wash your legs with hot water and then apply a thick moisturiser and to lock the moisture inside wear socks. This will keep your feet soft.

  1. Layering is the key during winters if you want to be fashionable or you want to have a glowing skin then layering is something you must understand and include in your daily routine. Fashion is the topic of another day but for the beauty part I would suggest to use multiple layers of products like a toner, emulsion, serum, creme, lotion to provide a balance hydration to the skin.

About Cactus & Sunflower

"Cactus & Sunflower" is  Grishma Satpathy's new venture in the digital space. The name comes from her deep relation

with her grandmother and the impressions of cactus and sunflower in their lives. As a child she used to share all her curiosities

about the plants with her 'MAA'. Her grandmother believed that 'Grishma' and 'Sunflower' have so much in common;

both are associated with sun and is the ultimate source of light. She always said Grishma to always make sure to carry

that light within yourself wherever you go and whatever you do.
