Winter Body Care

Winters are my happy season. I really enjoy the vibe of the season but as I belong to the dry skin family my skin really suffers during this time. We all experience dull, dry and dehydrated skin during this phase. For our face we all have a proper skin care regime but generally we avoid our body’s skin which tend to get very parched during this time. Our skin gets flaky and most of us only use a lotion that temporarily hydrates the skin. BUT That’s not enough, for the proper healing we need to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturizer our skin at least twice or thrice a week.

Cleansing and moisturizering is a daily process but exfoliating is also needed at least twice or thrice to properly remove the dead cells and help the skin to rejuvenate. If you haveparched and damaged skin then masking is also an option you can try.

STEP ONE

CLEANSING

Cleansing our face is a daily process which most of us religiously follow but we often forget our body. Our body skin also needs to be cleansed properly to keep it soft and youthful for a long time. I am currently obessed with M&S body wash, it is very mild and gentle on the skin but leaves your skin soft and supple after every wash. It has a very nice fragrance which was my main reasons to buy it, the scent lingers for a very long time.

STEP TWO-

SCRUBBING-

Exfoliating the skin is very important, it not only makes the skin soft but also removes the dead skin cells and helps the skin to heal. The body shop moringa exfoliating cream body scrub is my current favorite. I have been searching for a good body scrub for a very long time now, in the process I have tried a lot of scrubs but nothing had impressed my parched skin. This particular range caught my attention due to it’s amazing and soothing fragrance. I already had a body milk from the range about which I will talk in the next step. The pleasant smell of the body milk kinda forced me to try the exfloliater also. I am so glad that I ordered this one, it’s a big tub and you need a very small amount. Texture is perfect, not very grainy or mild. It gently scrubs the skin without making it dehydrated. I love using it twice a week after the shower creme. This a blessing during the winters for my very flaky skin. The exfloliating beads are not very harsh and it softly melts into the skin. I would highly recommend this scrub if you are searching for a good exfloliater for body. It is little expensive but it is totally worth every penny. You can obviously grab it during some offer.

STEP 3-

MOISTURIZERING-

We all moisture our skin at least during winters. It is the most common step to do as it makes the skin hydrated and soft. I have been using this moringa softening body milk from The body shop from a very long time. Even during summers I love using this as it is very light on the skin. It has a runny texture that gets absorbed very easily onto the skin. The spray bottle makes it very easy for application. It smells divine and lingers for a long time. The body milk instantly.hydrates the skin and makes it glow.

But for those of you who want a thick lotion or who have a very dry skin which needs a boost of moisture at one go can opt for a thick body lotion. I do use a thick lotion during the night time and I love this M&S strawberries hand and body lotion. It has a thick texture and keeps the skin moisturized for a long time.

ADDITIONAL STEP-

Masking is an important step for those who really have ageing and damaged skin. It is also a must do step for the dry skin babies. I don’t really religiously do this step but once a month especially during Winters I like to do this step. I do agree it isn’t a practical step for all of us to follow or include in our daily routine but if you want a polished and healthy skin then you must invest some time in masking.

I don’t have any product as such to show you. I do a dIY for masking.

  1. Take two parts of besan/gram flour mixed with one part of turmeric and two-three spoons of honey, few drops of essential oil (tea tree/lavender) and add milk or yogurt to it.

  2. Mix them well into a thick paste.

  3. Apply the paste all over the body and leave till it dries.

  4. Then take a shower without using a soap.

It’s a easy mask for the body and face. It helps to keep the skin hydrated and healthy for a long time. It is the last step of the routine that can be followed once a week.

About Cactus & Sunflower

"Cactus & Sunflower" is  Grishma Satpathy's new venture in the digital space. The name comes from her deep relation

with her grandmother and the impressions of cactus and sunflower in their lives. As a child she used to share all her curiosities

about the plants with her 'MAA'. Her grandmother believed that 'Grishma' and 'Sunflower' have so much in common;

both are associated with sun and is the ultimate source of light. She always said Grishma to always make sure to carry

that light within yourself wherever you go and whatever you do.
