Review on the Lakme Sun Expert Sunscreen Compact SPF 40 PA +++

What’s going on?

So as the tittle suggests this is a review post on Lakme’s new product which is a Sunscreen in the form of a compact.This is an interesting concept and can be a life saver for those who doesn’t like wearing the heavy sunscreens.

To being with let me tell you that you need to apply a day cream with a higher SPF underneath and then top it up with the compact. It is a revolutionary powder compact formula specially designed for hot and humid summers .

Packaging: It comes in a mango yellow colored flip open case with a mirror and sponge. Sturdy and compact. Perfect to carry in the bag.

Price: Rs 210/-

Texture: Finley milled compact powder.

Shades: Packaging says that it is Universal shade and suitable for all skin type.

What it claims?

It comes with an SPF of 40 and PA +++, Matte, non- sticky broad spectrum sun protection that protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Thus, shields your skin from sun tan, sun burn, dark spot, premature ageing and various other sun damages. It claims to set your face matte whole day and also to provide even coverage to the skin.

How to apply?

It is an alternative to the regular sticky sunscreens which are liquid or gel or cream based. So you need apply it after completing your day care routine i.e. either after your day cream or moisturizer or after applying your make up. It is a fine powder so it can be used as a setting powder as well.

Apply this before 20-30mins prior to sun exposure.

Does it needs reapplication?

Yes , it do needs reapplication as all other sunblocks does. Touch up your face with this light compact in every 3 hours.

What it really feels like?

It is no doubt a revolutionary formula which is non sticky and greasy. Provides a good amount sun protection and definitely keeps the skin matte for a long time.

It doesn’t feel cakey or uneven. It has a slight tint to it so can be a replacement for the regular compact.

But the only downside is it will leave a white cast on the darker skin tones if applied with a heavy hand. As it is only available in one shade we have no option left. If you just dust if over it might not leave a visible cast but it wouldn’t do any good as a sunblock then. So I don’t know how it is really going work for the darker skin type but the lighter skin tones can give it a shot.

My experience with the sunscreen?

It is pretty decent buy for me as it keeps the face away from the sweat and oil for a long time and as it is very humid in India this comes handy. Perfect for travelling as it is compact and as a mirror.

Will I repurchase?

I already did one for my mom as she doesn’t use any SPF and I was worried for her sun burns. It has really helped us so far.

Final take:

1. It is affordable and easily available in store and online.

2. Keeps away all shine and makes the skin look fresh.

3. Pretty decent replacement for the greasy sunblocks.
