Hello everyone,

How are you guys doing??? Hope some of you are still on with the new year’s resolutions and rest welcome to another month of 2018.. (which is almost half way gone!)

It has been a long time since I uploaded something and this time it is not about make up. I know it’s kinda awkward because all my previous blogs were based on make up and skin care but if you guys followed me then you must be knowing that I wanted to explore and try my hands in various genres.

So here I am !! Trying to experiment something new and this time I thought of exploring a place and show you various jeweleries that are available there and reveal the details about them.

‘Delhi Haat’ !.For people living in Delhi or for that matter India… name is enough but for my other friends .. let me explain what is Delhi Haat all about!! It is a place located in southern part of Delhi near INA where you can find all the cultural diversities of India coming together. It is place which provides you the ambiance of a traditional rural village . It gives you a feel of those weekly street markets but the only thing is the stalls here are permanent. You find a mini cultural diversity at Dilli Haat which was established 1994, run by Delhi tourism and transportation development corporation (DTTDC).

It is basically an open air craft bazaar and food plaza where craftsmen from all states of India display their wares here. This place should be in your check list if you are running out of time and want to explore and experience various culture and diversity of India.

Without further ado, let’s jump into the market !!

Here you will find a lot of handicrafts and traditional items which represents various culture of India. Whatever state’s specialty you wish to buy or see you can just head over to that stall and start exploring.. I will insert a lot pictures which might give you an idea but this post we will talk about jeweleries specially earrings!

Handicraft cloths store

The beautiful wooden boxes and home decor made up of Cedrus deodara( deodar wood)

He is making Bangles according to the hand size and the design and color you select. The material for Bangle is Lakh! (Right side)

Clay utensils and other items which were used during ancient times in India are recreated here. The miniatures for decoration and the normal size for household use.(Left side)

Handmade wooden stuff for decoration.

As you all might be knowing that tassels earrings are trending and so as the oxidized ones.

But the mirror work earrings are the new sensation which were stealing all the limelight.

The price of these jewelleries varies from Rs 60 to Rs 250/ (1$ – 4$)

What to eat?

Obviously after shopping so much you will be hungry and need food to revive your energy so, that you can continue with the shopping!! For that matter why not to have the food of your favorite state ? Or mix all the specialties of different state cuisine?? Whatever food item you think of .. you can have at the stalls of various states in Delhi Haat! I tried Manipuri food and Darjeeling’s tea .

And then after spending a beautiful evening at Delhi Haat, I was heading back home and to my luck I found out a place outside the gate of Delhi Haat where few ladies were seating and selling handmade jeweleries!! I went and asked them to customize few anklets for me and one lady was kind enough to braid my favorite colors threads with the oxidized coins and made me few anklets! You can even braid your hair with different threads at a very cheap price like may be about Rs 60/- (less than 1 US dollar).

How to reach there?

The cheapest and fastest route for Dilli Haat is the metro. You can board yellow line metro to INA and walk little bit to reach Dilli Haat .

It is located at Sri Aurobindo Marg, Opposite of INA Market in New Delhi. You can contact the office at +91-11-4629365 or +91-11- 6119055 and for more information can click here for the official website.

The entry ticket for children is Rs 10 and adult is Rs 20 but for forgeiners the tickets are about 100 bucks which is equal to 2 – 3 US Dollars.

I had an wonderful experience at the Delhi Haat, obviously I would love to visit that place again.. specially I loveeeeed the jewelleries!!

I hope you enjoy reading my blog and if you have any suggestions or questions please do let me know and thanks a lot of stopping by!

See you soon..

Take care!!

Bubyee!!!

About Cactus & Sunflower

"Cactus & Sunflower" is  Grishma Satpathy's new venture in the digital space. The name comes from her deep relation

with her grandmother and the impressions of cactus and sunflower in their lives. As a child she used to share all her curiosities

about the plants with her 'MAA'. Her grandmother believed that 'Grishma' and 'Sunflower' have so much in common;

both are associated with sun and is the ultimate source of light. She always said Grishma to always make sure to carry

that light within yourself wherever you go and whatever you do.
