Hey, How are you all? Hope your self-quarantine is going fine till now! I do understand, It’s hard to always stay at home but I think staying at home is better than staying in a hospital, right? You stay at home safe and sound not only for you but also for your loved ones.

We all know how dangerous corona virus is and how many lives it can taken till now! So, it’s better to maintain social-distancing and avoid going outside in any circumstances. So, I am here give you some ideas, so that you can also make your quarantine chill and fun, just like me! So let’s get started-

1- Try to change your sleep pattern, like I am not a morning person and getting up early gives me nightmares! But that doesn’t mean you will use this time to just sleep throughout the morning. What happens even if you are a night owl and is active during the night but sleeping the entire day will only make you feel more lazy ! So if I sleep till let say 3 pm then I feel like a sloth ! I don’t take a bath, don’t do anything productive or feel like getting up to even step out of the room! That makes the entire day completely grey.

2. Keep your chakars aligned! Stay positive Stay Positive and stay calm.We all consume news, we all know the numbers & cases are increasing. It is a discussion that is going on throughout the day. It is obviously imp to learn about the correct data, beaware about your locality, be conscious about your area’s health and be responsible but that doesn’t give you any kind of authority to just keep on blabbering about the ill effects of the virus. You are creating havoc and panic situation by always sharing negative things, discussing about the bad news. So that is not good for anybody’s mental health. And during this COVID-19 time, I feel we all need to stay positive and calm! That’s what is the need of the hour, if you just keep on thinking about negative things, you won’t actually feel good or make others around you feel good!

Be your own sunshine!

3. Practice somekind of detox be it from social media or junk food or anything that you have started consuming in excess. This step is necessary for people who want to have good state of mind. If you are someone who is continuously consuming and spreading news about this Coronavirus then you are not only distrubing your own mental space but also others whoever is following your activies. I am not meaning to say that you don’t post the facts and don’t talk about the wrong doings! I am just saying try doing it in a balanced way. If you are showing a scary news then also show a positive side. This will not only help others but even help you to keep it all together. And here, detox doesn’t mean you will completely cut-down your social media for months, just limit it for 2 weeks to begin with. Or detox with junk food, switch to healthy foods ! A change in your ongoing lifestyle will make things a little jazzed up around you!

A short clip to tackle anxiety at home

4. Learn something new, something exciting or something you would be meaning to learn for ages now.You have all the time in the day, you might as well utilise this time for self-development ! Learn guitar, learn a new recipe, learn a new language or do an online course! The idea is to keep yourself busy! And also, declutter your mind!

5. If getting up and doing nothing is making you feel unproductive then plan your day beforehand. Have a schedule, like today I’ll get up, take a long shower, get ready properly, cook something yummy or help mummy! I will clean my space, feed birds or dogs, do yoga, listen to music, write something or read a book, re-watch or binge watch series, old movies ! Like that the whole day will get covered up. You will feel productive. If phone calls or msgs, social media posts are making you feel under the bed or giving you anxiety then just either mute them or learn ignoring. You can’t change everything or everyone but you can keep our mind and surrounding fresh and positive.

6. Do what makes you happy, if reading a book, watching a movie, cleaning your space or getting ready is making you feel good then do that! Who is stopping you? So to turn my blues into yellow, green, red anything 🤣 try to ignore what others are saying, because you see they are also free like you! So you do you and get up, put make up, indulge in skincare, make IGTV, tiktok, go doodle, paint, sing, read, write, cook, decorate your home, and what not!

I made Dalgona coffee also 🤣

7. Remember this time won’t come back! You staying at home, doing nothing or working from home or studying from home isn’t coming back anytime soon. After this whole virus thing is over we’ll have a super-fast life where everyone will be just running ! So this calmness in the nature , the joy of doing nothing or the feeling of stay at home will not return! So, make the most out of it!

8. To stay motivated listen to podcasts, read blogs, watch vlogs! Talk to family, closed friends. Catch up with childood buddies. Play board games, indulge in gardening. Refresh your childood memories by watching old shows, serials like in Doordarshan, you can tune into OG Ramayana, Shaktiman! Basically start living this lockdown period and not just anticipating & stressing about the outer world.

Hope you enjoyed reading! Don’t forget to wash your hands😉

About Cactus & Sunflower

"Cactus & Sunflower" is  Grishma Satpathy's new venture in the digital space. The name comes from her deep relation

with her grandmother and the impressions of cactus and sunflower in their lives. As a child she used to share all her curiosities

about the plants with her 'MAA'. Her grandmother believed that 'Grishma' and 'Sunflower' have so much in common;

both are associated with sun and is the ultimate source of light. She always said Grishma to always make sure to carry

that light within yourself wherever you go and whatever you do.
